Service covered: the habit-tracking app “Habivas” (iOS / Android / Web / macOS)

This Privacy Policy sets out how personal information and privacy-related data belonging to users are collected, used and protected in the habit-tracking app “Habivas” (the “App”). The App is built on an offline-first design principle, and gives the highest priority to your control over your own data and to the protection of your privacy.

1. Information we collect, and how

The following information may be obtained through use of the App.

(1) Information you provide yourself (when using cloud sync)

  • Account information: your email address, password and other authentication credentials (obtained and managed through Firebase Authentication).
  • Profile and settings: settings data within the App (language, theme, time-slot settings, week start day and so on).

(2) Information generated or recorded automatically through use of the App

  • Habit data and records: habit names, settings (frequency, target values and so on), daily check-in records, notes, and statistics such as completion rates and streaks.
  • Data relating to the share feature: usage logs for the share images that the App generates for social media and similar services.

(3) Data on your device (based on your explicit permission)

  • Images and photos: when you use the share-card background customisation feature, the App accesses photos on your device at your instruction.
Important: how photo data is handled
A photo selected from your device as a share background is used only locally on your device (held as a byte array) for the purpose of composing the image. The photo itself is never automatically uploaded to a cloud server unless you deliberately choose to share it.

2. Purposes of use

Information collected is used only for the following purposes.

  • To provide the core features of the App (creating habits, daily recording, streak calculation, statistics and so on).
  • To provide data synchronisation across multiple devices (cross-platform) and backup, for users who have created an account.
  • To process and generate shared output, such as image export, within the client device.
  • To improve the quality of the App, fix defects, and provide user support.

3. Data storage and protection (offline-first)

The App is built on the offline-first design principle that local storage is the single source of truth.

  • Local storage: while you are not signed in (unregistered / anonymous), all data is stored only on your device (local storage) and is not transmitted externally.
  • Cloud sync: if you register an account and sign in, your data is securely synchronised to Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Firestore / asia-northeast1). Owner-only access rules are applied to the stored data, so other users cannot view or access it.
  • Encryption in transit: synchronisation traffic with the cloud is always encrypted.

4. Provision to third parties, and external services

The App does not provide personal information obtained from you to third parties without your consent. However, the App uses the following external services (infrastructure) in order to provide its functionality.

  • Firebase Authentication / Cloud Firestore (Google LLC): used for user authentication and as a cloud database (synchronisation and backup).
  • Firebase App Check (reCAPTCHA Enterprise): used to protect the web version against unauthorised access and bots.

Note: share link URLs issued from the App’s Share Studio (habivas.app and similar) contain no personally identifiable information (PII).

5. Your rights, and deletion of data

You have the following rights in respect of your own data.

  • Data export: you can export your habit data and records at any time in JSON or CSV format from the settings screen in the App.
  • Deletion of your account and data: you can request deletion of your account and of all associated data held in the cloud at any time, from Settings > Delete account in the App.
